Luanda received a superior rating at districts and state thespian competition as a sophomore. At states, Luanda was one of the 10 superior ratings out of the 12 Boca thespians participating.
Only a Sophomore
Despite more than double of the number of seniors, juniors, and sophomores competing for one of seven musical solo spots in the District and State Competitions, Luanda landed one of those spots as a sophomore. She will be singing the challenging piece “Here I Am” from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
De Hilster has been taking vocal lessons from Rebeca Diaz for a number of years who chose this challenging piece for Luanda. The music includes a dance interlude where Luanda performs some of her own choreography. Here is the recording sent to districts of her performance at BrandStar Studio:
Luanda Receives Superior At Districts & States
December 2020: Luanda’s received a superior rating along with all of the other students from her drama club in the district competition. Her superior rating was for her solo Musical number.
March 29, 2021: Luanda, the only sophomore from Boca High to compete in the state thespian championships, received a superior rating.
